Intro to studio recording for radio & podcasts
Audio producers have always been resourceful, recording everywhere from closet caves to blanket forts to basement offices. However, when it comes to getting great tape, there’s just no substitute for sitting at the mic free from distractions in the quiet that a good studio offers.
Join studio owner David Herman and manager Erica Huang behind the controls in their own shop for this in-person class. You’ll get a hands-on primer on the most common studio tools, techniques, and concepts used in radio and podcast recording. David and Erica will demystify concepts like gain and plosives, go over microphone types and techniques, monitoring and metering, file management, and more. They’ll play examples of common problems in tracking and interview tape and teach you how to evaluate and troubleshoot these issues before you hit record. Of course, great tape can come from outside the studio too, so they’ll also cover how to adapt studio concepts and techniques for the field.
*Class is capped at 8.
