These days, it seems like everyone and their mother hosts a chat show. While making one may seem simple, creating one that will grab people’s attention (in an ever-growing podcast industry) can often be tremendously challenging. In this two-part workshop, award-winning showrunner, producer, and consultant John Asante will teach you how to develop and pitch your podcast idea, create a structure and format, form sustainable production methods, and produce a show that will keep your listeners coming back for more.

  • Class meets for two Tuesday sessions at 6pm EST, beginning Tuesday, October 11th.
  • During the second session students will have the opportunity to pitch their idea during a group critique.
  • This class is capped at 12.

About Your Instructor

John Asante

John Asante (he/him) is an award-winning, independent, Ghanaian-American podcast showrunner, producer, and consultant. He’s devoted to crafting stories that shine light on marginalized communities within the worlds of music, pop culture, and social justice. After spending much of his 15-year career producing radio shows and podcasts for NPR, WNYC, Stitcher, and Pineapple Street Studios, John shifted gears to independent work in 2022. Through his production company, JKB Wash & Dry Productions, he’s made podcasts in collaboration with several companies, including A Kids Co., Imagine Entertainment, Audible, Pushkin, and Hartbeat. He resides in Los Angeles with his wife and their two rambunctious cats.
