Get Your Story Heard: How to Successfully Pitch

10/15/2022 - 10/22/2022
12:00pm - 2:00pm EST
Online Workshop
Registration Closed

Pitching and placing your story can be almost as challenging as making the story itself.

In this two-part class, Karen Duffin will share tips and tools she learned from both sides of the fence, pitching stories as a successful freelance reporter and being pitched while on staff at This American Life and Planet Money.

In part one of the class, we’ll walk through the pitch process from start to finish – identifying story ideas, how much to pre-report before pitching, figuring out who to pitch, and writing a solid pitch. In part two, you’ll have a chance to apply what you’ve learned –  a handful of students will have a chance to pitch story ideas and get feedback, giving you a chance to refine your own pitch and/or learn from other people’s.

Bonus: Registration comes with a free, three-month license for Hindenburg audio editing software!
