Need to record scripts, promos, intros, or interviews from home? Editor and producer Shawn Allee walks you through how to find and treat your most important recording gear – a home recording space. Starting with budget options, Shawn explains how to cut echo and other audio problems when recording from home, hotels, cars, and other locations. Includes time to test a setup.

Who's this class for?

• Best suited for reporters, producers, hosts, or others who record from home or other remote locations.
• It’s ideal to participate from an environment you can manipulate in some way (e.g. the ability to move items).
• Recommended: Basic recording equipment of some kind and headphones.

Shawn Allee

Shawn Allee is an experienced public radio and podcast editor and producer. At WBEZ Chicago and beyond, Shawn trained hundreds of audio journalists, editors, producers, and others on how to make their podcasts and radio features sound their best. His own work has appeared on NPR’s All Things Considered, Marketplace, On The Media, and This American Life.
