How do you integrate your professional experience with your host’s vision? How best can you work with a host who has other jobs or responsibilities? In this class we’ll demystify a host/producer relationship, discuss advocacy versus overstepping, and learn ways to build trust. We’ll talk about setting expectations, integrating into an existing team, and adapting to a host’s voice/writing style. We’ll compare starting a new show from scratch with integrating into an existing show, and identify what hosts value most in a producer.

The class will use examples from instructor Madeleine Thompson’s experience helping to launch shows like “The Assignment with Audie Cornish” with a very experienced host, as well as shows like “Diversifying” and “All There Is with Anderson Cooper” with first-time podcast hosts and will leave plenty of time for questions and discussion.

*Class is capped at 12
